At the Henderson Park Inn, this beach bar serves elevated bites and craft cocktails with front-row Gulf views. More upscale than your typical tiki bar — try the smoked tuna dip and a frozen paloma.
Destin calls itself "The World's Luckiest Fishing Village" for a reason — but there's far more to do than fish. Here are the top experiences for every type of traveler.
Destin has the largest charter fishing fleet in Florida. Half-day trips ($80-150/person) target red snapper, grouper, and mahi. Full-day offshore trips chase tuna, wahoo, and marlin. Most depart from the Destin Harbor.
Bottlenose dolphins are residents of Destin Harbor and the Gulf year-round. Tours run $25-40/person and almost always deliver sightings. Southern Star and Olin Marler are two of the most popular operators.
The jetty rocks at Destin Pass and Norriego Point offer surprisingly good snorkeling with tropical fish, sea turtles, and rays. Rent paddleboards from vendors along the harbor for $30-50/day, or kayaks to explore the bay.
Rent a pontoon for 4-8 hours ($250-500) and captain your own trip to Crab Island, through the harbor, or along the Gulf. No boating license required in Florida. Several rental outfits near the Destin Bridge.
Destin's premier open-air shopping center with 90+ stores, restaurants, a movie theater, and a splash-pad fountain for kids. Bass Pro Shops, Uncle Buck's Fishbowl (bowling!), and frequent live events.
The beating heart of Destin — a boardwalk village with restaurants, shops, fishing charters, and entertainment. Fire jugglers, fireworks on seasonal nights, and the best sunset-watching spot in town. Free to walk around.
The largest designer outlet center in the Southeast — Nike, Coach, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, and 100+ more brands. Great for a rainy-day backup plan. 10 minutes east of Destin in Miramar Beach.
Over 40 water attractions including slides, a lazy river, wave pool, and adventure courses. Open spring through early fall. Day passes around $45/adult, $35/kids. Right on Hwy 98 in the heart of Destin.
Interactive marine park where you can swim with dolphins, pet stingrays, and watch sea lion shows. Smaller and more intimate than big-name parks. Educational programs for kids. Open year-round on Hwy 98.

Warm days (75-85°F), smaller crowds before Memorial Day, and the best combo of price and weather. Spring break weeks (mid-March) are busy — book early or aim for April/May.
Peak season with 90°F days, warm Gulf water (82-86°F), and the biggest crowds. Book 3-6 months ahead. Afternoon thunderstorms are common but quick — mornings are almost always clear.
The locals' secret — warm water through October, perfect 80°F days, zero crowds, and the lowest rates. October is arguably the best month to visit Destin. The Destin Seafood Festival is in early October.
Mild by Northern standards (50-65°F) but too cool for swimming. Great for fishing, quiet beach walks, and the lowest rates of the year. Destin's holiday events and restaurant scene shine without the crowds.
Destin is a car-first town spread along Hwy 98, but once you're settled at your rental, most things are just a short drive away.
Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) is only 15 minutes from our properties. Northwest Florida Beaches Intl (ECP) in Panama City Beach is 50 minutes east but sometimes has cheaper flights. Rental car recommended at either.
A car is the most practical way to get around. Uber/Lyft are available but can be slow in peak season. Everything from our rentals is within a 5-15 minute drive. Parking is free at most attractions.
Publix (3 Destin locations) is the go-to for quality groceries and their famous deli subs. Walmart Supercenter on Commons Blvd has everything else. Both are within 10 minutes of our properties.
